Summer Week With The Grandparents

We are on our way to Austin to pick up our daughter where she has been visiting the grandparents. Somehow, she managed to survive without us for the week, however, today she gave a little whimper on the phone to let me know she’s ready for mommy.  Whew! And I thought she was ready to dump me!

I have to say it’s been very quiet around the house.  On one hand it’s nice for us to spend the time alone with our son but I do miss her silly songs and hugs.  I asked my five-year-old son today if he missed her.  He said “yes, but when she’s not here I get to play with the big trains more.”

This week reminded me of last summer when my mother-in-law took them to Colorado. I ran back into my home and screamed as loud as I could to welcome my alone time.  It was great.  Thirty minutes later the house was creepy quiet and I missed them terribly.
