First Day Of Kindergarten
I awoke to the sounds of my son’s footsteps at 5:50 this morning. I couldn’t go back to sleep for two reasons:
- Once my son snuggled in our bed, my husband began talking in his sleep. My son responded in his sleep. Not much sense was made but they did have a nice short conversation.
- It was the first day of Kindergarten.
While numero uno was funny, it was numero dos that had me excited. Come on, kindergarten is a rite of passage. Sure he went to pre-school but this is real school. He has a new environment, new friends, new teacher, new rules, a new backpack (hopefully it won’t be recalled) and a very long day. Ugh, I’m stressing already.
It was just as exciting as our first day except he rode in a car as opposed to walking. Of course, those were the days when children weren’t kidnapped every five minutes when walking five miles through rain and snow. He also didn’t have one of those 1970’s cardboard school supplies boxes that fell apart by Thanksgiving.
Perhaps his longish skater-boy hair will make up for the lack of 70’s in his life.
